Bio

Marco was born and raised in Brazil and came to the United States in 2021. He brings with him over 36 years of experience as a medical doctor and acupuncturist in Brazil. In addition to practicing acupuncture, Marco has been a professor at the University Federal Fluminense since 1997, and served as the Vice-coordinator of the Medical Acupuncture Fellowship Course from 1997-2021. Other areas of expertise include Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques like pulse and tongue diagnosis, Five Elements and Zang Fu theories, Extraordinary Vessels, electroacupuncture, scalp, ear, trigger point, acupuncture point injections, and segmental acupuncture. Marco recently obtained his acupuncture license for Florida and is excited to begin treating patients here! In his spare time, Marco enjoys getting out into nature, spending time with his wife, as well as friends and family, and sampling fine wines and craft beer.

Professional Experience:  

  • 36 years of experience in the private practice of Medical Acupuncture and Pain Medicine.

  • As a full professor at the University Federal Fluminense (Brazil), Marco Antonio Helio has taught acupuncture to medical students in the School of Medicine and medical doctors in the Medical Acupuncture Fellowship Course since 1997.

  • Vice-coordinator of the Medical Acupuncture Fellowship Course from 1997 to 2021. He is currently licensed by the University since the beginning of 2022 when he moved to the United States.

  • Expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques like pulse and tongue diagnosis, Five Elements and Zang Fu theories, Extraordinary Vessels, electroacupuncture, scalp, ear, trigger point, acupuncture point injections, and segmental acupuncture.

  • Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP), granted by the World Institute of Pain in 2015.

  • Diplomate of Acupuncture honored by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2000.

  • Graduated as a Medical Doctor at the Teresopolis School of Medicine (Brazil) in 1986.

  • He is fully licensed to practice acupuncture in the State of Florida.
